Jerry was a wonderful and Kind person. I enjoyed working with him while working at ASD. He always had a kind word for you and most of the time it came with a joke or two. He will be missed by all who knew him. Praying for peace, comfort and strength for his family and friends.

Jerry Shaw was one of the few people that gave me a warm welcome when I first moved to and worked at Alabama School for the Deaf. His hearty laughters and warm vibes will be sorely missed. Alabama folks were truly blessed with his endless contributions to the community, especially for the deaf students at ASD. May he Rest In Peace and my deepest sympathies goes out to his family and friends, praying for comfort, strength and peace.
Warmly,
Susan Lambert

My name is Fred Miller. So many things I can say about this wonderful man Jerry. Last 8 years since I moved to Alabama. He is one of the people with open arms welcoming and will make you laugh with silly jokes. As years go by getting to know Jerry he set one of true examples of Deaf leadership in the most humble way. Jerry is an epitome, basically. Some examples: He is so passionate about making things work for ASDAA summer camp/ Corn-hole in Pell City for the last few years and he always makes sure it will happen. When Talladega Older Youth Seniors (TOYS) get together at Talladega Regional Center and other locations he always follows up with everyone because he cares about them and he shows a huge heart for his community. Which I really admire for him doing that gave me the passion into deaf senior community. Another word I could describe him is mensch. I’m glad that I got to spend that time with him, and that I had the pleasure of knowing someone as sweet as Jerry. Rest in peace Jerry.
