Obituary of Jerry Gordon Hollingsworth

Mr. Jerry Gordon Hollingsworth, 84, of Lincoln went home to his Lord and Savior on June 14, 2020. He was a born again Christian and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanza Layton Hollngsworth; his daughter, Connie H. Owens and her husband, Keith Owens of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Aaron K. Owens of Odenville and Caitlin O. Johnson and her husband, Landon Johnson of Lincoln; brother-in law, Hugh Hindmon of Talladega; and two nephews, Hugh G. Hindmon (Denise) of Ohio and Greg Hindmon (Pam) of Talladega.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry G. and Gladys H. Hollingsworth of Lincoln and his sister, Carolyn H. Hindmon of Talladega.
Mr. Hollingsworth was a 1953 graduate of Lincoln High School. He spent three years in the United States Army where he served overseas in Korea and was in the Honor Guard. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Korean Service Medal. Mr. Hollingsworth was a Free Mason. He retired from the Anniston Army Depot in 1988 after 35 years. He was a Computer Programmer Analyst for the Department of Information Management. Mr. Hollingsworth's greatest love was his family and grandchildren. He loved hunting and fishing and just spending time in the woods. He also loved working in his garden and taking care of his roses and lilies. He will be dearly missed by not only his family but by all who knew him.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Dry Valley Cemetery with Dr. Stan Jett officiating.
