Obituary of Myron Waits

Myron Bryce Waits Jr., 77, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Oak Park Nursing Facility in Auburn, Alabama. He was predeceased by his parents and two daughters. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Miller M. Waits of Auburn; sister Babs Corley (Mrs. K.R.) and family of Panama City, Fla.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary Jane and Ford Laumer and family; many other relatives and very special loyal secretaries, Carolyn, Jane and Andrea.
Mr. Waits graduated from Georgia Tech and the University of Alabama School of Law. He was a member of Bench & Bar and the Alabama Bar Association. In three communities, he was a Civitan, Jaycee, and Kiwanian. Mr. Waits was named one of the Outstanding Young Men of America and also the Outstanding Man of Talladega Jaycees, both in 1970. He was an Attorney at Law in private practice in Talladega from 1967- 2012 and Talladega County District Judge 1971 - 1974. He received the BSA Silver Beaver award in 1977 and had served as both District Chairman and Vice Chairman of the BSA Choc. Council. He was a member and officer of the First Presbyterian Church Talladega.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Camellia Place and Oak Park in Auburn for excellent professional and compassionate care.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 9 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega. Pallbearers are members of the Caravan Class of the First Presbyterian Church. Visitation and reception will be at the church immediately afterward.
