Jane Montgomery English peacefully passed away at her home on May 24, 2019 in Cropwell, Alabama at the age of 82.
Jane was born on March 4, 1937 in Birmingham, Alabama to her parents, Ervin and Elizabeth Montgomery. She graduated from Woodlawn High School and retired from a career at SMI Steel.
She enjoyed many things in life including cooking, sewing and crafting, fishing and being on the lake, traveling, being with her family, gardening, attending church, and entertaining friends and family.
Jane was full of class and dignity and it was apparent to anyone who knew her. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Elizabeth Montgomery; husband, Gordon Bennett English; sister, Judy Viola Tanner; brother, Jack Montgomery; great-grandson, Braden Alex Davis; and son-in-law, Perry Chase Walker.
She is survived by her two daughters, Monti Jane Blalock (John) and Terri Elizabeth Walker; brother-in-law, William Elmo Tanner, Jr.; grandchildren, Robert Mark Halstead, Jr. (Samantha), Monti Michelle Davis (Eric), Melinda McMillan Bowles (Chris), Rachael Elizabeth Keen and Larry Walker; great-grandchildren, Season, Lindsey and Trey Halstead, Carley and Aubrey Davis, Grady and Lydia Keen, and Caleb and Charlotte Bowles; great-great-grandchildren, Brynlee Marie and Calleigh Elizabeth Halstead; and several nieces and nephews.
A receiving of friends will take place from 10:30 until 12:00 on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City. The service will begin at 12:00 noon with burial to follow at St. Clair Memorial Gardens. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jane’s life.
