There will be a celebration of the life of Clyde R. Turner, 96, of Eastaboga, AL. Her funeral services will be Wednesday, June 4, 4:00pm, at Eastaboga Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Snyder officiating Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 at the church prior to services.
Mrs. Turner was born to Jasper and Myrtle Robinson in Talladega County on July 15, 1917. She was a devoted Christian, a lifetime member of Eastaboga Baptist Church where she was recognized as the oldest living member. She was a loving and wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, friend, and the epitome of a Southern lady.
She was loved and adored by her sister Jean Dorsett (Jay) of Eastaboga, AL, daughters Theresa "Sis" Smith (Judson) of Shelby. AL, Myrt McCluer (Woody) of Jacksonville, AL, Jane Chappell (Bill) of Eastaboga, AL, Hope Wilson of Gadsden, AL, and daughter-in-law Dee Turner and a loving and attentive sister-in-law Thelma Turner of Eastaboga Al. She was the loving grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband Charlie Nixon Turner, sister Inez Deason of Dadeville, AL, sister Miriam Jackson of Talladega, AL, Helen Warren of Eastaboga, AL, her son Clyde Turner of Palmerdale, AL, and her daughter Marie Turner of Eastaboga, Al.
She was a devoted gardener, master fisherman, an avid seamstress, world traveler, lover of Jacksonville State football, and could feed the entire community on demand. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and was recently honored as the oldest living alumnus. Pallbearers will be Greg Chappell, Jeff Chappell, Jason Chappell, John McCluer, Bryan McCluer, and Will Hendon. Honorary pallbearers will be Jean Dorsett, Theresa "Sis" Smith, Myrt McCluer, Jane Chappell, and Hope Wilson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Eastaboga Baptist Church. Her family would like to sincerely express our appreciation to friends for cards, visits and food during this time also thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their time and care with mother.
