Talladega – Dennie Hicks, 102, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019. Funeral service for Mrs. Hicks will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 11:00 am at Usrey Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will be at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Rev. Kevin Jones will officiate the service.

 

Dennie was born on April 7, 1916 in Kellyton, Al. At an early age she moved with her family to Munford, Al. At the age of 9 she became a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Munford, Al. Dennie married Thomas Milton Hicks in 1945 and was widowed in 1962. She then moved to Talladega and spent the rest of her life enjoying her home, vegetable garden and yard.

 

She is preceded in death by her father, William Bartlett Herndon; mother, Ella Theresa Camp; and sister, Francis Bowden. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her son, Robert Milton Hicks; daughter, Linda H Dyer (Bill); grandchildren, Blake and Courtney; nephew, Jack Bowden.
