Obituary of Benton Grubbs

Funeral service for Benton Grubbs 80, of Munford will be Friday, May 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Thomas and Rev. John Trickett will officiate and burial will follow in Munford Memorial Cemetery. His family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 till time for service. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega will direct. Mr. passed away May 19, 2014 at his home in Oxford. Mr. Grubbs was a native and longtime resident of Munford. He was a home builder building homes in Calhoun, Talladega and St. Clair Counties. He loved fishing and playing his guitar with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Fannie B. Grubbs, brothers, Barney, Emmett, and Frank Grubbs, sisters, Irene Nowland, Louise Hutchinson, Sally Fant, Vera Patterson and Jackie Roberts, great-grandchildren, Dianna Grubbs and Ava Smith. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Grubbs, son Michael Grubbs (Janet) of Eastaboga, daughters, Susan Kirk, and Lisa Reid of Munford, sisters, Nina K. Smith of Oxford and Betty Barton of Hot Springs, AK, along with 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jonah Colsen, Adam Traywick, Bill Bliss, John Watts, Ronny Lewis, and Dean Camp. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Reese, Tommy Parker, Joe Bob Sanders, Bill Hamilton, Jack Herd, David Harmon and Scott Lakey.
