Obituary of Thomas Windle Batchelor

Alpine, Alabama – Thomas Windle Batchelor of Alpine, Alabama was born to the Late Mary Odie (Middlebrooks) Batchelor and the Late Thomas E. Batchelor on December 9, 1937 in Ranburne, Alabama. He passed away quietly in his sleep surrounded by Family and Friends on October 9, 2018 at Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga.

He was a native of Cleburne County, Alabama and was a long time resident of Talladega County. He was a 1957 Graduate of Winterboro High School in Alpine, Alabama. He was the Finance Manager of the Domestic Loans in Sylacauga and evidently became a full time Cattle Farmer and a Trader Extraordinaire. He is a member of the Tallassahatchie Baptist Church in Alpine, Alabama.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Thomas E Batchelor and Mary Odie (Middlebrook) Batchelor, his brother, William Olen Batchelor, all of Talladega, Alabama.

Windle was survived by his wife of 61 years, Gwendolyn Gay Baker Batchelor, 2 Daughters, Pamela Lovelady (Bob) and Carol Touchstone (Victor),  son. Thomas Windle “Tommy” Batchelor Jr. (Kim), and Nieces, Linda Batchelor Haynes; Karen Rhodes Hart and nephew, David Rhodes; sister, Carolyn (Ira) Rhodes. Grandchildren, Robert Austin Touchstone (Jessica), Thomas Brandon Batchelor, Robert Whit Lovelady (Amanda), John Colten Touchstone (Megan), Thomas Grant Lovelady, Chelsey Elaine Batchelor and 1 Great Grandchild, Jackson Storm.

Pallbearers for the Funeral are Austin Touchstone, Brandon Batchelor, Whit Lovelady, Colten Touchstone, Grant Lovelady, David Rhodes, and Randy Butler. Honorary Pallbearers are Carl Jackson, John Harris, and Stanley Blackburn.

He enjoyed being in the woods, hunting, horseback riding, and listening to his dogs run. His kids and grandkids will remember his advice and words of wisdom that he offered to them to succeed in life.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Craig Little and Dwayne Shurum officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm at Union Hill Baptist Cemetery in Ranburne, AL. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
