Obituary of Barry Newton McCrary

Barry Newton McCrary, 78, of Talladega passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Brookwood Hospital, surrounded by family. His funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with The Reverend Ben Turnage officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega and Wednesday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Mr. McCrary was a graduate of the University of Alabama where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He practiced law in the Gadsden and Talladega areas and was a lifelong active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Talladega.

Barry is survived by his wife, Marilyn McCrary; daughter, Beth McCrary Smith (Michael); grandchildren, Sarah, Tucker and Connor Smith; sister, Beverly Smith (James); niece Kim Blanton (Jeff); and several great-nephews and a great- niece.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Pauline McCrary and nephew, Jason “Newt” Smith.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Lambert, Billy King, Rex Killough, Sid Nelson, Alan Scarbrough, David Roberts, and Wendell McCrary.

Honorary pallbeares are Bill Perry and Blake Harris.

The family gives special thanks to caregivers, Anita Hearn, Tonett Wells, and Erica Staples.

In Lieu of flowers , donations may be made to St. Peter's Bingham Hall Restoration Fund.
