Obituary of Carl "Sonny" Hazelwood

Mr. Carl Hazelwood, 82, of Pell City, Alabama was born on December 19, 1935 and went home to heaven on September 6, 2018.

Sonny worked during his lifetime as a masonry helper and later as a machinist helper. He never met any strangers; if you didn't know him, he would always make certain to introduce himself wherever he went. During the last years of his life here on earth, he enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens facility in Pell City where he made many friends.

Sonny's greatest accomplishment was when he gave his life to the Lord while he was a teenager. He took great joy in his service to the Lord and was a member of Mt Zion Freewill Baptist Church where he attended faithfully. Sonny's ultimate desire was for everyone to accept the Lord as their Savior.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mildred Hazelwood.

He is survived by brothers and sisters, Ullis (Alice) Hazelwood, Grant Hazelwood, Earl Hazelwood, John (Ann) Hazelwood, June (Ronnie) Lee, Frank (Sharon) Hazelwood, Harold Hazelwood, Diane Hazelwood, and Michael (Cindy) Hazelwood; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday September 8, 2018 at Mt Zion Freewill Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Barber officiating. Interment will follow at St. Clair Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the church.

Special thanks from Sonny's family goes to Lisa, Kristen, Tonya, Sarah and Mrs. Rosie at the Senior Club who took special care of him. And, to his other special friends: Norma, Alana, Tammy, Jessica, Brittany, Kristen, Canvas, Hazel and the Compassus Hospice staff.
