Obituary of Robert "Bobby" Hubbard

Alpine – Robert L. “Bobby” Hubbard, 82, died August 13, 2018 at Brookwood Baptist Hospital. Funeral service for Mr. Hubbard will be on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Alpine Baptist Church. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Alpine Baptist church from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Interment will be at Alpine Cemetery. Rev. Brad Mitchell and John Sawyer will officiate the service.

Mr. Hubbard was born on December 1, 1935 in Alpine where he lived all his life. He often said that Alpine was heaven on earth. Mr. Hubbard graduated from Winterboro High School. He was a member of Alpine Baptist Church. He was employed at E.C. Gaston steam plant for more than 40 years and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Hubbard was an avid fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football and was a member of the Tide Pride.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Edith Hubbard; his brother, Walter Joe Hubbard; and his nephew, Gary Hubbard. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patsy A. Hubbard; daughters, Mary Beth Hubbard and Louanne Smith (Phillip); grandchildren, Glenn Dillard, Xan Fields (Dennis), Thaddeus Smith, and Shea Smith; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Rebekah Fields; sister-in-law, Margaret Hubbard, and great nephew, John Hubbard (Emily). Pallbearers will be John Hubbard, Terry LaTaste, Karl Parks, Todd Brannon, Eric Pruitt, Michael Pruitt, Beaver Tinsley, and John Albert Vincent. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Haynes and friends from E.C. Gaston, Rodney Culver, James Hubbard, Jimmy Hubbard, Harry Joe Powell, Oscar Barklay, and Preston Carmack.
