Obituary of Randall Wayne Cox
On July 24, 2018, Randall Wayne Cox from Ragland, Alabama, passed away at the age of 68. After suffering a massive stroke, for nine days this dearly loved man was surrounded by his wife, son, daughter-in-law, granddaughters, mother, siblings, nephews, nieces, church family and many friends. They prayed, worshiped, and fellowshipped at his bedside, grieving the loss of such a godly man but celebrating his gentle transfer into the hands of his Father in Heaven.
Randy was cherished by all but especially by his wife of 45 years Becky, their son Clay, daughter-in-law Karen, and two granddaughters Cassidy (8) and Chloe (6). His mother, age 93, survives him, as do his three grieving siblings: Susan, Kim (Steve) and Tim (Jonna), and so many nieces and nephews, who considered him to be the favorite uncle.
Randy was born on September 11, 1949 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Ira L. Cox and Charlene. As a teenager, he gave his life to Jesus on a hot summer day in 1965, resting on his front porch after mowing lawns. He prayed and claimed the promise of 1 John 5:13: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.”
Randy attended Southeastern Bible College where he met his best friend and loving companion for life, Becky Ford. They married in 1972 on a Sunday afternoon to the anthem “Oh Glorious Love.”
After surviving a liver transplant twenty-two years ago, cancer and chemo for 14 years, and recently completing thirty radiation treatments for a serious secondary cancer, Randy was unable to bounce back from his stroke. As Paul wrote of himself in II Timothy, Randy fought a good fight, finished his course, and always kept his faith and focus on Christ.
"My song will silence never,
I'll worship Him forever,
And praise Him for His glorious love."
The funeral service will be held at 5:30 pm on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Hardin’s Chapel Bible Church. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 3:30 until 5:30 pm at the church.
