Obituary of Marvin Clifton Atchley

Atchley, Marvin Clifton Sr (Cliff), 92, of Pell City, AL passed away on July 11, 2018. He was born September 28, 1925 in Goodwater AL. At age 17 he enlisted in the U.S Navy and fought in the Asiatic Pacific campaign during WWII. After being honorably discharged from the navy he married Ruth Elizabeth Simpkins on Sept 29, 1946. He worked as a traveling salesman for Firestone, Colgate Palmolive, and American Greetings. He enjoyed playing cut throat games of Risk with his grandchildren. He would talk to anyone that would listen to him. He was extremely proud of his military service and wore his WWII veteran hat anytime he left his home. He is survived in life by his wife of 71 years Ruth Elizabeth, his daughter Crystal Hubertus, his daughter Cinderella Forney and her husband Russ, his daughters-in-law Paula Atchley and Laura Atchley, 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his sons Cliff Jr and Cleve Atchley and grandson Clint Atchley. Memorial services will be held on Thursday July 19, 2018 at 10:00am at Bevis Funeral Home at 200 John Knox Rd Tallahassee, FL 32303 and in Pell City, AL on Saturday July 21, 2018 from 11:00am-1:00pm in the home of Ruth Atchley.
