Obituary of Barry Miller
Barry Miller died peacefully at his home on July 12th, 2018, surrounded by family after an extended illness.
Barry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Honey Hood Miller; two sons, Stephen Miller of Moody and Lyle Miller of Memphis; daughter, Stacy Miller of Riverside; sister, Donna Miller of Talladega; and by his loyal dog, Nick.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Gaynell Miller and his brother, Nickey Miller.
Barry began his automotive sales career as a teenager in Ashland, Alabama. Through years of hard work and determination, Barry's success grew as he went from salesman to owner of Barry Miller Chevrolet and Miller Sutherlin Automotive. He was able to do this with the help of many friends along the way. Due to the help he received, he was committed to helping others.
Barry supported the Crimson Tide through the First and Ten Club and the Red Elephant Club. He was also an active member of The White Flag Club at the Talladega Super Speedway. He received many awards when he was a member of the Jaycees in Talladega.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City with Dr. Michael Barber officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday from 9:30 until 11:00 am at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Stanley McClellan, Rex Griffin, Bobby Roberts, Lyle Hood, Mitchell Jacobs and Jerry Adair.
Because of his philanthropic nature, the family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a program that Barry helped to initiate in St. Clair County, D.A.R.E. (Union State Bank, 2019 Cogswell, Ave., Pell City, Alabama 35125) or a program that gives peace of mind to the families of those individuals who may wander, Project Lifesaver, (St. Clair Co. Sheriff’s Office, 1610 Cogswell Ave., Pell City, Alabama 35125.
