Obituary of Samuel Hershel Gibbs

Mr. Gibbs passed away at his home on April 28, 2014. “Uncle Sam” was a native of Hopewell Alabama and a longtime resident of Talladega. He graduated from Talladega High School in 1958. He was a US Air Force Veteran. He loved his friends, family and his cats, especially “Dirty Face”. Shocco Springs was dear to him especially during his teenage years. He was a funny, warm human being who loved nothing better than sharing his stories. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel H. and Inus Weir Gibbs. He is survived by his sister, Julia Gibbs Matson, nephews, David Matson and Nathan Matson (Jordan), dear friends, Donna and Greg Rowe, and a host of cousins, friends and pets. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Humane Society or offer kindness to a veteran in honor to our “Uncle Sam”.
