Obituary of Roy Dean Brooks

Graveside services for Mr. Roy Dean Brooks, 87, of Talladega will be Monday, November 6, at Pine Hill Memorial Park at 11 a.m.

Mr. Brooks passed away November 3, 2017 at University Hospital in Birmingham.

He is survived by his children, Russ Brooks (Leigh) and Shelley Adams (Joe); sister Emma Jo Cole; three grandchildren, Joseph Adams (Lauren), Emily McLain (Brandon), and Haley Brooks; and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Betty Brooks; son David Brooks; and parents Joe Brooks and Audine Cochran Brooks.

Mr. Brooks served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 44 years before retiring in 1995. More recently, he served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Talladega. He had a talent for baking and enjoyed working in his yard.

The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
