Obituary of Jack Clark

Feb. 23, 1932-Oct. 23, 2017

Jack Clark, a native of Munford, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Monday, October 23, 2017 at the age of 85.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ora Clark; three brothers, Winfred Clark, Dr. Harold Clark and Donald Clark; and one sister, Betty Layton.  His survivors include his wife of 66 years, Omega “Mickey” Clark; his son, Terry Clark; his sister, Eva Jane (Gordon) Methvin; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws and precious friends.  Jack graduated from Munford High School in Munford, AL and Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL and served four years in the US Air Force with a tour in Korea.  He was employed by Max Miller CPA firm; Mobile General Hospital which later became the University of South Alabama Hospital.  During his tenure there he assisted the Dean in the establishment of the University of South Alabama Medical School.   He served as Vice-President of Humana Hospital Company overseeing their various hospitals in the south and mid-west.  He retired in 1995.  He was a member of the University Church of Christ; served as a Deacon for a period of time and as Treasurer for 42 years.  He served on the Board of Directors of Faulkner University, Montgomery, AL and on the Board of Directors of Rainbow Omega, a home for special needs adults.  Jack was recognized in Who’s Who in America; Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare; Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry.  The family wishes to extend most heartfelt appreciation to the Southern Cancer Center, Dr. Connie Uzel and staff and Dr. Jacob Webster of DMC for their untiring care and support and Jessica Morris, RN of Springhill Hospice and Home Health Care whose love and compassion provided care and comfort during our most difficult time.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jack’s favorite charities:  University Church of Christ, 5651 Ziegler Blvd., Mobile, AL  36609; Munford Church of Christ, 143 Main Street, Munford, AL 36268; JMT Charitable Foundation, 6305-A Piccadilly Square Drive, Mobile, AL  36609 or Rainbow Omega (a home for special needs adults), 100 Hope Drive, Eastoboga, AL  36260. A memorial service was held Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 6:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Mobile, AL.  Funeral services will be held in Mr. Clark’s hometown of Munford, AL Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Munford Church of Christ in Munford, AL.  The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 PM until service time.   Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
