Obituary of Marilyn White Greene
Marilyn White Greene, 85, died on Wednesday, October 18, at her home in Talladega. She is
succeeded by her husband, Pat, son Rick (Carrie), son Michael, son Timothy (Cindi), daughter
Jennifer (Wayne), and grandchildren Patrick, Christopher, Randy, Adam, Jamie, Emily, Rachael,
Deborah, Lily, Camille, Kirby and great grandchildren Rylee, Sam, Grey, Anna, and Natalie. She
is preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Collins White, daughter Marianna and
granddaughter Natalie.
Marilyn was a native of Atlanta, Georgia where she attended Sacred Heart School and the High
Museum of Art. She was an accomplished artist and ardent art and antique collector. She
enjoyed travel with her husband and trips to their beach house in Florida.
Marilyn was known for her ready smile and wonderful laugh. "She was active in her church,
Saint Francis of Assisi in Talladega, was responsible for church decorations and flowers for many
years and participated in several church activities. She was a faithful Catholic and attended
mass without fail except for times of serious illness. She was the co-founder with her husband
of the Marianna Greene Henry Special Equestrian Program in Talladega. This is a non-profit
equine therapy program serving the children at the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind that
has served thousands of disabled children over the last thirty years. She was recognized along
with her husband for her work in feature stories in "People" and "Biography" magazines. Other
numerous news outlets reported on her activities including a national TV story featuring
outstanding women.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, October 21st at Saint Francis of Assisi
Church, 722 East Street South in Talladega followed by burial in Thornhill Cemetery at the
family farm. The family will receive guests at the house following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Marianna Greene Henry Special Equestrians, 29401 AL Hwy 21 South, Talladega, AL 35160.
