Obituary of Robert Wade Weaver
Robert Wade Weaver, 78, of Talladega left this earth to be with our Lord on Tuesday. “Bobby” to those who knew and loved him was born on January 20th, 1939, and grew up in Childersburg. He later settled in Talladega with his family. He was a graduate of Childersburg High School, Pearl River Jr. College, he was inducted into the state of Mississippi Jr. College Football Hall of Fame in 2011, The University of Miami where he played the position of quarterback from 1959 – 1961, and also played 3rd base for the Miami baseball team and Cumberland Law School in Birmingham. He was a lifelong member of the Talladega First Baptist Church and the McDonalds men’s coffee group. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas William Weaver, Estelle Marie Robinson Weaver and his brother Thomas Richard Weaver.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Janette Young Weaver, his son Wade Harrison Weaver (Meg) and daughters Laura Weaver McConnell (Vic) and Beth Weaver Gray (Doyle). His grandchildren who were the light of his life Reed, Harrison and Annalee McConnell and Laura Addison Gray and his sister, Pat Weaver Carlson (Andy).
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit staff of Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham for their kindness and compassion during Bobby’s illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the First Baptist Church of Talladega youth group or Journey Hospice of Birmingham.
Visitation will be Friday September 22nd, 2017 beginning at 12:30pm at the First Baptist Church in Talladega, AL. The funeral will begin at 2pm also at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Klotz Officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery also in Talladega.
