Obituary of Thomas Jackson Landham
Thomas Jackson “Jack” Landham, age 89, of Roswell, Georgia passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-six years, Topsy Landham, sister Louise Pinkerton of Birmingham, daughters Sabre Whitt (Jay), Charlotte Dobbs (Dr. Rick), Mary Jean Myers (Bill), and son Jack Landham, Jr.; grandchildren Dr. Lauren Whitt, Katie Whitt Pless (Paul), Caroline Whitt Campbell (Henry), Dr. Matthew Dobbs (Taylor) and Jennifer Dobbs McIntyre (Pat); seven great grandchildren, nephew Paul Pinkerton (Allana), and two great nephews.
Jack grew up in Lincoln, Alabama and graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute becoming a pharmacist in 1950. He opened Landham Drug Store in Talladega, AL in the late 1950’s. Jack
was the Alabama recipient of the A. H. Robins Bowl of Hygeia Award for outstanding civic leadership in 1971. He was recognized for his achievement of being a pharmacist for fifty years in the State of Alabama. In 1999, Auburn Alumni Association awarded him the Golden Eagle. In the 1980’s he owned and operated Cheaha Travel and traveled extensively leading groups around the world. Jack loved the Lord and was an active member of Talladega First Baptist
Church for many years.
Later in life, Jack moved to Roswell, GA to work as a pharmacist for Kroger. His profession was extremely rewarding. Jack spent many years as a volunteer teaching seniors computer skills.
He was an avid photographer and reader. He loved his family and friends, always greeting everyone with his warm smile. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Presbyterian Home for Children in Talladega, Alabama or the North Fulton Community Charities in Roswell, GA.
Visitation will be at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega on Saturday, September 23rd beginning at 10:30 am with Mark Cushman officiating. Funeral to follow at 12:00 pm. Burial will be at Lincoln Cemetery in Lincoln, AL.
