Obituary of Bonnie Catherine Gaither

Bonnie Catherine Christian Gaither died at her home in Talladega, Alabama on December 28, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Lester Gaither, Jr; her parents John Robert and Elizabeth Dalton Christian, and a brother Elbon L. "Bill" Christian. She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Jean Gaither, a brother Robert Dalton Christian (Ann) of Decatur, Alabama, Sisters Allie Christian Butler, (John C.)of Decatur, Alabama and Jessie Word of Pelham, Alabama, Sister in law Grace Christian of Birmingham, nieces Catherine Word of Birmingham, Elizabeth Robinson of Richmond, Kentucky, nephews Craig Butler of Houston, TX, David and Jim Christian of Birmingham and Robert Christian of San Francisco, C A; special friend, Corable Findley, Talladega. Bonnie was born in Birmingham on November 27, 1925. She graduated from Hueytown High school and Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, MS. Later she earned a Master's degree from Jacksonville State University. She then taught at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind. She was former treasurer for ABCD and past chairperson and past president of WMU. She was a member of Faith Baptist Deaf Mission. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010, at 1:00PM, at Usrey Brown-Service Funeral Home with burial in Pine Hill Memorial Park.
