Obituary of Andrew Wales "Andy" Smith

Andy passed away on Father’s Day Sunday June 18th in his home in Trussville. He was preceded in death by his loving daughter Audrey. Andy leaves behind wife Dorcas and a combined family of 2 sons Drew (Cathy), Preston (Jamie) Smith. 3 daughters Stacy (Victor) Harris, Charity (Carey) Monistere and Hope Peebles. 10 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. Sister Virginia (Boyce) Guthrie and Sister-in-Law Linda Mashburn. Andy was a native of Birmingham attending Lakeview Grammar School, Ramsay High School and Birmingham Southern College. After a career with The Birmingham News he founded Affinity Marketing Inc./ Senior Living Newspaper. Andy was the publisher of the newspaper for over 20 years. Andy was an avid supporter of anything positive for Birmingham by being a member of numerous boards and clubs. A memorial service will be held at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville on Thursday 06/22/17. The family will be on hand for guests from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM with funeral at 1:00 PM. The family would like to Dr. Andrew Duxbury for his compassion and continuing care for Andy. A special thanks to Suzanne Kilpatrick RN for her love and care for Andy and a special thanks to chaplain Joe Klobuchar for his support not only for Andy but also Dorcas and family.
