Dewey will be missed by many. I enjoyed the years that I was blessed to have known Dewey. He made me laugh! It will take quite some time for things here at the day program to seem back to normal without Dewey's presence. So many memories, I am truly thankful for those.
To Dewey's family, I have always been very impressed by the togetherness you all share. Dewey was a lucky man to have such a close knit family. If ever there is any way that I could be of assistance to you, please feel free to contact me.
God blesses us in many ways. Knowing Dewey was truly a blessing in my life! Even though he was unable to use his voice, he spoke volumes through his facial expressions and through his actions and interactions with others. Deep down Dewey was a gentle soul. He will be greatly missed. Prayers for the family.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Perkins, day program coordinator Arc of Jefferson County/Blount Division

I Am Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I am free.
I'm following paths God made for me.
I took His hand. I heard Him call, then
turned and bid farewell to all.
I could no stay another day to laugh
to sing, to play,. Tasks left undone must
stay that way. I found my peace at
close of day.
And if my parting left a void, then fill
it with remembered joy, a friendship shared
a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I too
will miss.
Be not burdened...deep with sorrow; I wish
you sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been
full, I've savored much, good friends,
good times, a loved ones' touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't
lengthen it now with grief. Lift up your hearts
and share with me. God wants me now.
He set me free.
I will miss Dewey so much. He touched my heart in many ways. His family will be in my prayers for the coming days, weeks, months and years. Love to all.

Yesterday is a memory, tomorrow is
a mystery and today is a gift,
which is why it is called the present.
What the caterpillar perceives is the end;
to the butterfly is just the beginning.
Everything that has a beginning has an ending.
Make your peace with that and all will be well.
Dewey will be greatly missed, He has touched my heart in many ways. I will miss you Dewey.
