Calvin Coolidge McRae, 92 of Talladega passed away February 19, 2017.Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday February 23, 2017 at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel, with burial and Navy Honors at Pine Hill Memorial Park, Brother Terry Barksdale will officiate the service. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00pm at funeral home.
Mr. McRae has been actively involved in his Alabama Community in many civic organizations, including the Alabama Association of School Boards, the Talladega Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club (past president and Paul Harris fellow), the Disabled American Veterans, Airport Board and the Talladega City School System. Mr. McRae has served on the medical board at Citizen's Hospital, and was Sunday school president of the First Baptist Church. He served 13 years in The U.S. Navy where he served aboard The U.S.S. Bailey from 1942-1945 as a First Class Torpedo man, and was also Chief Electronic Technician for the U.S, Navy. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth McRae, and survived by his four grown sons, James, Tommy, Robert, and Timothy, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Rick, Matt, Todd, and Timothy McRae will serve as pallbearers.
