Obituary of Joseph A. "Joe" Yester, Jr.

Mr. Joseph “Joe” A. Yester, Jr., 89, of Alpine, Alabama passed away on January 11, 2017. He served in the Army for 26 years, 10 months. An active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, he faithfully served and visited shut-ins. He was also a member of the Legion of Mary, Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge. He was a former member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Birmingham, AL. He was well known for his cooking, and he loved fishing and lake life. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 19 years Katie Davidson Yester; second wife of 12 years Jewell Smith Yester; and his sisters Virginia and Marie. He is survived by Nephew Arthur “Mac” Demmert, Jr. and Great-Nephew, Luke Demmert. Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 10:30 am on Friday, January 13, 2017 preceded by the Rosary at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Clair Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:30 – 10:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
