Ellen Durden O'Dell Cardellina 86, passed away Sunday January 8, 2017 in Tulsa Oklahoma. She was born in Talladega to Emory Walker Durden and Nan Hobson Durden (Thrasher). She had one sister, Nan Hannah and Joe (Bud) Durden. Ellen married Master Sgt. Thomas Eugene O'Dell Jan 10, 1953.
She is survived by their four children: Charlotte Swank, Thomas Eugene O'Dell, David Hobson O'Dell, and Cynthia Ellen O'Dell Perkins; nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren as well as an array of nieces and cousins.
Ellen was a graduate of Talladega High School and St Vincent's Nursing School. She received a Bachelor of Science from Troy State University. Ellen led a full life, filled with ballroom dancing, travel, and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2017, in the Usrey Brown Funeral Home Chapel, 516 North Street East, Talladega, AL.
Family visitation will be at 11:30 a.m. Friends may visit from noon to 1 p.m.
