Obituary of August Joseph Lehe, III

Memorial service for August Joseph Lehe III, 70, of Talladega will be Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Usrey Funeral Home. His family will receive friends Saturday from 1-2 pm. Rev. Barbara H. Mosley, of Ironaton United Methodist Church, will officiate. Mr. Lehe passed away September 22, 2016 at the Bill Nichols VA Home in Alexander City, AL. He is preceded in death by father, August “Jackie” Lehe and mother Donsia Faye Boyd Lehe, and brother, Erich Douglas Lehe. He was born in Jersey City, NJ and grew up in Fort Lee NJ. He was a resident of Magnolia MS for many years where he graduated from Mississippi State University. As a resident of Talladega since the early 1970’s, he was a local reporter who worked for numerous newspapers and radio stations. He was retired from the State of AL after serving 28 years as the local VA Administration Service Officer. He was a member of Ironaton United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Talladega. Captain Lehe served his country faithfully and honorably on the East German border during the Vietnam Era in Army Intelligence. He was a receiptant of The National Defense Service Medal. He served as an officer with the Hall of Heroes, local VFW and American Legion, Post #17, and served as a State officer with American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Rapp Lehe, sister-in-law, Janna Talbert Lehe, niece, Audrey Lehe, and numerous cousins.
