Obituary of Lewis Edward Locklin

Lewis Edward Locklin (April 10, 1952 - August 26, 2016) Lewis Edward Locklin, age 64, passed away August 26, 2016 at his residence in Woodstock, GA. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Lewis was a native of Alabama. Born in Mobile and raised in his early years in Monroeville, his family moved to Talladega when he was in junior high. He graduated from Talladega High School in 1970 and then attended Auburn University, where he earned his bachelor degree. In 1989 after a successful career in retail management, Lewis returned to school and earned his teaching certificate from Jacksonville State University. He married his wife, Deon (Dee) in June 1989 and they settled in Auburn. In 1992, Lewis and Dee relocated to Georgia. They settled in Woodstock in 1998. He retired in 2011 as an insurance agent for Life Management Group. Lewis was an avid golfer. He enjoyed traveling with his family, spending time with his many friends, and following Auburn football. His faithful dogs, Lea and Gidget, brought him great joy as he battled colon cancer. During his five-year illness, Lewis showed amazing courage, grace, and dignity. His warm and gentle nature will be missed by all. Lewis was preceded in death by his father John Marshall Locklin, Sr. and his sister Lela Margaret Locklin Crawford. He is survived by his loving wife Dee Locklin, son, Taylor Edward Locklin, mother, Lela Lewis Locklin, brother, John Marshall Locklin, Jr. (Amy), mother-in-law Theresa Vigil, brother-in-law,LesIie Crawford, brother-in-law Jerry Jacobs, sister-in-law, Kay Brubaker (Dale), nieces, Katy Locklin Wright (Scott) and Emily Locklin Burt (Craig), Jami Jacobs Poling (Larry), nephews Jason Locklin (Shelley), Ben Crawford, Matt Crawford (Megan), Jac Crawford (Jacinda), Jerry Jacobs, Jr., and Dennis Brubaker (Annamaria). A memorial service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Talladega. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega will direct services. Online condolences may be made to www.usreyfuneralhome.com.
