James Earl Farmer, 76, of Talladega passed away August 31, 2016 at UAB Hospital. Mr. Farmer’s funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Dan Mattox officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to services. James was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. He was a graduate of Winterboro High School. He worked for Newberry Foundry for 20 years and retired from Kimberly Clark in 2001. He was an avid cattleman and gardener. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Patricia Stephens Farmer, children Michael Farmer (Melanie), Bethany Myrick, grandchildren Rose Farmer Eads (Tyler), Jim Farmer (Ashley), Mary Pat Farmer, Benjamin Myrick, Jac Myrick, great-grandchildren Ty Eads, Evelyn Eads, brother John Ray Farmer (Marianne), and his dog/friend Buddy. He is preceded in death by his parents Hamlin and Lela Farmer. Pallbearers will be Milton Stephens, Norman Stephens, Sam Willingham, O’Neal Kelly, Ralph Rich and Joe Patterson. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Simmons, Roy Searcy, Wayne Johnson, Jimmy Vessels, Sammy Alverson, Jerre Watson, and Buddy Wesley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
