Obituary of Patsy Lorine Hughston

Patsy Shropshire Hughston, age 80, of Talladega passed away peacefully on March 3 at her daughter’s home in Irondale after a year-long battle with cancer. She leaves behind her daughter, Freida Hughston Burden (Greg), grandchildren Lauren Burden Easterling (Steven) of Trussville, Veronica Burden White (Justin) of Northport and Wesley Adam Hughston of Talladega, great-grandchildren Christopher, Andrew and Madeline Easterling and Katherine (Katy) and Jonah Hughston, as well as sisters Betty Shropshire Gannon (Ed) and June Shropshire Boren (Bill), of Phenix City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lorene (Pet) Shropshire and son Wesley McCain Hughston. Ms. Hughston retired from Farmer’s Home Administration after 30 years of service. She also spent many memorable years employed at Goldberg & Lewis. She lived 76 of her years in Talladega, where some of her fondest memories were of her life in Bemiston. She will be remembered as a loving, generous and supportive mother, grandmother, sister and friend by all who knew her. Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, from 5:30 until 7:30 and Friday, March 7, from 11:30-12:30 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Graveside service will be Friday, March 7 at 1:00 PM at Pine Hill Memorial Park with Usrey Funeral Home directing.
