Obituary of Douglas "Doug" Hill

Funeral service for Douglas “Doug” Hill, 83, of Talladega will be Wednesday April 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Peters Episcopal Church. Father Ben Turnage will officiate. Mr. Hill will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Memorial Park with military honors. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-7 pm at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Sgt. Hill passed away April 11, 2016 at his home. Sgt. Hill is preceded in death by his father, Arnold Hill, mother, Pauline Key Ward, grandfather, Samuel Walter Key and grandmother, Ethel Ivora Bailey Key. Sgt. Hill was a native of Talladega and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served for 27 years both in the U.S. and many countries overseas. It was important for him to keep in touch with many of the men he served with and to attend the yearly reunions. He was also the photographer and a founding member of the Talladega County Hall of Heroes. After retirement from the military Sgt. Hill served for 15 years as the Internal Auditor for First National Bank Talladega. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Maureen Darton Hill, daughters, Sheran Lee Earley (Daryl) and Julia Maureen Conner (John), grandchildren, Lilian Elizabeth Conner and Joseph Douglas Conner Pallbearers will be Daryl Earley, John Conner, Michael Maxwell, Jim Armstrong, Tony Roberson and Jim Hare.
