Obituary of Samuel G. ' Mullinax

Funeral service for Samuel “Sammie” G. Mullinax, 77 of Lincoln, will be Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Usrey Funeral Home. Rev. Jacky Morgan will officiate and burial will be in Dry Valley Baptist Cemetery. His family will receive friends Thursday from 1-2 pm at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. He passed away February 25, 2014 at his home. “Sammie” was a lifelong resident of Dry Valley and a graduate of LHS Class of 1956. He was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church, former president of the Cattlemen’s Association, named “Father of the year” by the “Cow Belles”. He managed the Talladega CO-OP for 22 years, and served families by delivering propane gas for more than 20 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Bessie Mullinax, daughter, Sandra Jean Mullinaxson, Benny Johnson. He is survived by his wife Nella Mullinax, children: Larry Mullinax (Laurie), Mike Mullinax (Diane Reaves), Gilbert Abernathy (Vanessa), Herbert Abernathy (Lita Smith), Debbie Brasher, Rodney Johnson, Johnnie Womack (Dewayne), grandchildren: Matthew Mullinax, Amanda Jones, Amber Davis, Chelsea and Gage Mullinax, Kalli, Kassidy, and Karson Abernathy, Justin Abernathy, Rylee Box, Hannah and Gabe Abernathy, Joseph Reed, Ken Sisk, Jay Brasher, Rod and Jon Johnson, Jacob and Ben Womack, Matthew and Anna Powell, great-grandchildren: Kayleigh and Kensley Jones, Logan Mullinax, Kaleb McGuire and Jace Powell, brothers; Jim Henry (Lisa) Mullinax and Johnny Joe (Helen) Mullinax along with several nieces and nephews. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and the LHS class of 1956 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
