Obituary of William Albert Roberson

Funeral services for William Albert Roberson, 90, of Alpine and Bemiston will be held at Alpine Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 1,2016, at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverends Brad Mitchell and John Sawyer officiating. Burial will be in the Alpine Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Monday, February 29, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m., at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Mr. Roberson was a lifelong resident of Talladega County, living most of his life in Alpine, Alabama - having been reared on a farm there with 13 siblings. He attended Winterboro School and subsequently worked at Alabama Ordinance Works, Bemis Bag Company, Killough Supply and Grocery, and the United States Postal Service where he served as postmaster for over 22 years. He was a member of Alpine Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 49 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Francis Roberson and Kitty Mae Roberson (McConatha); three sisters, Mamie Irene Roberson, Mary Pauline Harkins, and Nannie Mae Horton; and three brothers, Cecil Gorman Roberson, Robert Franklin Roberson, and Joe Oliver Roberson. He is survived by his wife, Erma Dean Roberson (Fowler); four children, Terry Glenn Roberson and Joni Gayle Baker of Talladega, Christy Ellen Lessley of Auburn (Jim), and Douglas Jay Roberson of Mobile (Amanda); and six grandchildren, Ryan Michael Deal, Lauren Rae Deal, Joseph Will Lessley, Sidney Renee Griffin, Meg Kathryn Lessley, and O'Neil Teri Roberson. . Pallbearers will be Jack Harkins, Steve Roberson, Jimmy Horton, Tom Roberson, Ronnie McGrady, Marshall McGrady, Jeff McGrady, Barry McGrady, and Scott Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Aline Baptist Church along with Jerry Horton, Chris McGrady, Ann Morris, Meta Stephens. Gail Joiner and Sally and William Killough
