Jerry Studdard was a man's man and one of the finest men I have ever know. He allowed me to serve in the Reserve when I was a young man and he remained my friend throughout his life. I have always cherished his friendship, even from afar. He was truly one of a kind and one of the friendliest and greatest story tellers I have ever met. He could hold an audience for hours and his smile and laugh was infectious. May God Bless you family members as you continue through this life with his memory deep in your heart and forever on your tongue. Carry his memory forward as I expect he would want you to do, laughing and smiling at this great world we live in.

I was sadden to hear of Sheriff Jerry Studdard's death. I did not know him as did my husband, Lance, who had so much respect for our Sheriff. Words I would hear...a friend to all; present to assist in any way; always pleasant and a fair and good man! Thanks for giving of yourself for the betterment of Talladega County residents for 34 years. May God Bless each of your family members and give them His perfect peace and comfort to get through this difficult time.

I met Jerry Studdard when he worked with ABC in Talladega County in the 70's. He told the best stories and knew more people by their names than anyone I have ever known. The Public loved him, and he responded to them. He knew the "Heartbeat" of every community in this county. The sheriff nicknamed me, "Billy Roe." He was my friend. That friendship I will always cherish. Our prayers are with the county and his family.
