I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Bobby. I was a next door friend of his in Ironaton. Bobby taught me more about outdoor life and fun games than anyone. He was a couple of years older than me and I claim him to be one of my very best childhood- early teen friends. He taught me how to hunt rabbits and squirrels, how to fish, how to whittle and make whistles, where to find a good cane fishing pole, how to shoot, how to make and use a sling shot, how to knock a wasp nest down for fishing bait without getting stung, how to bait a hook and always be sure to spit on the bait, and so much more. I was probably 11 and he was 13 when we were hunting with our shotguns and his rabbit dogs. Looking back I am surprised my parents would allow me to be hunting at that age with my next door friend. Bobby also taught me how to shoot marbles and I could never beat him. He would win my marbles and then give them back to me. We played with either a bulls eye circle or a pea-dee outline drawn in the dirt. He taught me how to throw a knife, spin a top and to wrestle. He would never hurt me but I had to say "calf rope" before he would let me up. We had a great time growing up together. Bobby also came from a great family that always welcomed me into their home. I loved to eat Mrs. Johnson's biscuits or fried apple pies. I thank God and Bobby for all these memories.
