Mr. James A. Bates, 64 of Talladega passed away January 23, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Bates was survived by his wife of 40 years Christine H. Bates, three sons Jimmy Wren Bates (Catrina), Scott Bishop and Jamie Bates, four granddaughters EmaLeigh, Jaycie, Candence Bates and Diamond Bishop, two grandsons Troy Bates and Dakota Bishop, brother Alton Bates (Pat) and sister Sarah Dearman (Cramer), a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Bates was preceded in death by his parents Albert “Alb” Bates, mother Beverly Beatrice “Bea” Bates, three brothers William “Buck” Bates, Marion “Shorty” Bates and Horace Bates sister Virginia “Sister” Love. Mr. Bates was a lifelong resident of Talladega. He was a Truck Driver for over 20 years and was employed by John Ray Trucking Company
