Obituary of Sarah Anne Alston

Graveside services for Mrs. Sarah Anne Thompson Alston, 85, will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2 pm at the Alpine Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Brad Mitchell and Rev. William Maynor officiating. Mrs. Alston went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. She was a resident at Chandler Health and Rehab Center in Alabaster at the time of her passing. Mrs. Alston was a member of Alpine Baptist Church and Hepzibah Baptist Church. She also attended Salem Presbyterian Church in her later years. Mrs. Alston was the church secretary at Hepzibah Baptist Church and also worked at the Department of Human Resources in Talladega. She was preceded in death her husband Auburn Lewis Alston, daughter Mary Lee Alston, parents Hugh L. & Bessie A. Thompson, and her sister Mary Jo Duncan. Mrs. Alston is survived by her daughter Lynne Alston Hamer, grandson Brady Hamer, granddaughter Abby Hamer of Montevallo, nephew Mark Duncan and niece Joanne Duncan of Alpine. Mrs. Alston loved to cook and collect cookbooks. Her 2 grandchildren were the joy in her life. She loved all animals and had a passion for taking care of her cats and dogs. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made to the Pell City Animal Control Center, 1071 Airport Road, Pell City, AL 35128.
