Obituary of Mildred Spencer Brownlow

Mildred Spencer Brownlow of Talladega, Alabama, born October 17th, 1930, went on her last great adventure to her heavenly home on August 15, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents John Clinton Spencer and Louise Williams Spencer and by her loving daughter Kathie Brownlow Belden. She is a graduate of Pensacola Junior College’s medical technology program. After graduation she worked in the blood bank at the VA Hospital. After specialized training in tissue typing, she began a career at UAB where she would work until her retirement. Upon retiring from UAB, she took to traveling to experience the Lord’s gifts around the world. Her travels took her too many states and countries. Her most memorable destination is Alaska where she went to watch the end of the Iditarod race. Her love for travel is only superseded by her love for Jesus Christ and her church, Bemiston United Methodist Church, and her family. She loved her grandson and great granddaughter beyond compare. She is survived by her grandson Clint Belden (Samantha), great granddaughter Anna James Belden, brother Jack Spencer (Reba), cousins Alta Williams and Mary Ann Williams, niece Teresa Hodge, nephew John Clinton Spencer, III and her traveling friend Betty Caywood of Lexington, KY. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday August 19, 2015 at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Wednesday at Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Travis Ford, Jim Belden, Adam Hudson, John Shaw, Jay Ransom, and Charles Rowe. Usrey Funeral Home Talladega will direct.
