Obituary of William L. Gaither

Funeral service for William L. “Buddy” Gaither, 82, 0f Talladega will be Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 11 am at the chapel of Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Brother Ron Hurst will officiate and burial will follow in Pine Hill Memorial Park. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 10-11 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Mr. Gaither passed away February 2, 2014 at his home. He was born in Talladega County on November 8, 1931. He was a 1950 graduate of Munford High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954, and was an Airman Apprentice during the Korean War. He was a retired machinist, and loved to work on antique clocks and do small engine repair. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Mr. Gaither was a member of the Talladega Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon until his health caused him to step down. He was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor and Thelma M. Gaither, first wife Sue B. Gaither, sister Beatrice McNeal, brother, Louie Gaither, and step-son, Travis Goodwin. “Buddy” is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ernestine Campbell Gaither, sons, Jeff Gaither (Marlene) of Southside, AL, Rob Gaither (Pam) of Virginia Beach, VA, daughter, Wanda G. Cline (Benny) of Steele, AL, step-daughter, Pam Farley (Mike) of Comfort, TX, 8 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be deacons and elders of Talladega Church of Christ and Sonny Bonds.
