Obituary of Paulette Salter Nixon

Funeral service for Mrs. Paulette Salter “Mi Mi” Nixon, 70 of Talladega will be Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at Munford Baptist Church. Brother John Trickett, Rev. Frankie Swinney, Rev. Jeff Rutledge will officiate and burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Mrs. Nixon passed away peacefully at her home on June 9, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband Buck Nixon, parents, Howard and Mildred Salter, brother-in-law, Dennis Watson. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. She was a member of Munford Baptist Church where she played the organ for 20 plus years. She also served as organist at Bethlehem United Methodist for a number of years. She loved flowers and shopping and loved to travel especially to the beach. Music was part of her life and she loved to sing. She was a member of the Southern Gospel -Munford Quartet. She was a retired school bus driver with 30 years of service with the Talladega County Schools at Munford. She is survived by her daughters, Janet Gaither and Jennifer Nixon, grandchildren, Patrik Sewell, Chance Shiflett and Dylan Gaither, sister, Deborah Watson, nephews, Jason Watson (Becky), Jeremy Watson, and Buck’s dog “Co Co”. Pallbearers will be Ted Lackey, Ken Bradford, Mike Sewell, John Suddeth, Luke Armbrester, Rickey Sellers and Ed Hale. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Shiflett, Reggie Gaither, Milton Cochran, and George Renier. Special thanks to New Beacon Hospice, especially Clay and Wanda for their special care, along with: Glenn and Barbara Fisackerly, Christy Sharpe, Elaine Nixon, Martha Ann Gravette, Gladys Hinkle, Becky Robinson and Barbara and Billy Wilson.
