Obituary of Mary Lou Holcombe Jones

Mrs. Mary Lou Holcombe Jones, 87, of Oxford, passed away May 1, 2015, at NEAL Regional Medical Center, Anniston, Alabama. Mrs. Jones was born in Mooresville, NC but moved to Alabama in 1945 when she married Elmore Jones. She lived in Talladega, AL most of her life. She worked in cotton mills off and on throughout her life but her main occupation was taking care of her children and taking care of others. She moved to Oxford, AL in 1994. She was a member of the Maxine Stewart/Hope Sunday School class at Lakeview Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, her family and her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmore Jones; her mother, Lovie Martha Holcombe; her father, William Ivory Holcombe; and her daughter, Glenda Virleen Bagley. Survivors include daughters, Wanda Nadine (Johnny) Ellen, Sheila Yvonne Jones, Buey Vanessia (Tim) Bowman; sons, Derrick Randall (Sharin) Jones, Phillip Doyle (Debbie) Jones, Kenneth Elmore (Susan) Jones, Ronald Darren (Melonie) Jones; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great- grandchildren. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2015. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega will direct. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at Usrey Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Spirlin and Rev. Jerry Starling officiating. A burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Talladega Alabama. Pallbearers will be Bobby Peters, Kevin Jones, Kenneth Cole, Kennedy Cole, Mike Jones, and Daryal Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Maxine Stewart/Hope Sunday School Class of Lakeview Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Lakeview Baptist Church, 305 Central Ave., Oxford, AL 36203. .
