Obituary of Hulon Leon Phillips

Funeral services for Hulon Leon Phillips, 78, of Talladega, will be Friday, August 2, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Usrey Funeral Home. Dr. Sam Tate will officiate and burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. His family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8 PM and Friday from 1-2 PM. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega will direct. Mr. Phillips passed away July 31, 2013 at Talladega Health and Rehab. Mr. Phillips is preceded in death by his parents Will and Eula Phillips, brother, Floyd Phillips, sisters, Grace Preston, Clara Mundy, Bertha Mooter, Cleo Knight, Flossie Horn, Geraldine Hughes, Vida Recopero, and Anita Jo Odom. Mr. Phillips was a native of Clay County and a long time resident of Talladega. He graduated from Bibb Graves High School at Millervile, Class of 1953. He retired from Anniston Army Depot with 40 years of service with the security police. He was also a US Army Veteran. He loved working with wood and watching baseball. He was a huge Auburn Football fan. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Phillips, daughters, Lisa Wesley (Craig), Kathryn Wallace (Jock), Martha Rothchild (Ty), son, Hulon Scott Phillips (Karen), grandchildren, Phillip and Eric Wesley, Jay and David Wallace, Candace Warren, Scott Phillips Jr. Gracie and Abby Phillips and Brennan Rothchild, 6 great-grandchildren and brother, Charles Phillips (Elder), sister, Ann Patterson, several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Wayne Sherbert and Tim Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be James Milam and John Woodard.
