Obituary of Annie Victoria Wheeler

Name: Mrs. Annie Victoria Wheeler, lovingly known as "Granny", Age: 97 Residence: Cropwell, Alabama Date of Death: June 30, 2013 Place of Death: Cropwell, Background: She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she attended for 97 years. The story is that her mom put her in a market basket and placed her under the pew during church service. She attended service on June 23, 2013 and July 2nd will be her last celebration of life with her family and friends with whom she had always shared her Christian walk for all of her 97 years. Her philosophy about attending church was "if she felt bad, she could be in church and feel bad just as well as feeling bad at home." She always felt at peace in the Lord's house. She taught Sunday School for 64 years while she managed Sno-White Cleaners and never failed to witness and encourage others to Christ. She was one of the first telephone operators for Pell City, Lincoln, Ragland and Vincent back when she had to answer the switchboard, "Hello..Central", and then you were connected. Since her birth in the year 1915, (horse and buggy to automobiles, trains to planes, and one telephone in her community to cell phones, newspapers to computers, post office to e-mail)...lots of changes but she never changed...always the loving, caring mother and grandmother and always showed kindness to all. Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo L. Wheeler, a WWI veteran, and by a son, David Johnathan Wheeler.
