Obituary of William Arthur Johns

Funeral service for William Arthur "Candy Man" Johns, 86 of Talladega will be Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Usrey Funeral home Chapel. Rev. Harvey Bowlin and Rev. Douglas Johns will officiate and burial will follow in Pine Hill Memorial Park. His family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 PM at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Mr. Johns passed away June 29, 2013 at Citizens BMC. Mr. Johns was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. He was a self employed businessman know as the "Candy Man". He began his business in 1956 and retired in 2003. He was a U.S. WWII Navy veteran and was a member of Trinity Lighthouse Church of God. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Jewell C. Johns, daughter, Tammy E. Johns and son Kenneth Johns, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, sisters, Maudie Melon and Louise Rash and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Johns is preceded in death by his daughter, Jane Cooley, 2 grandchildren, 8 brothers and 2 sisters.
