Obituary of Edward Decator Deck II

Funeral service for Edward Decator Deck Jr., 84, of Talladega, will be held on Friday June 21, 2013 at 11 AM at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Stephen Keller will officiate and burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. His family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 PM at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Mr. Deck passed away June 18, 2013 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. Mr. Deck was a native of Bristol, Tennessee and a long time resident of Talladega having lived here since 1955. He worked with his father at Deck’s Curb Market in Talladega. He worked for Barber Milk Company and for Weaver and Sons, Inc. metal fabrication. He then became a fireman. He retired from the Talladega Fire Department in 1988 after seventeen years of service which included his serving as assistant chief. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Talladega and was a certified Master Gardener. Mr. Deck is survived by his wife, Peggy Limburg Deck of Talladega. The two were married for 63 years and had three children, Janice Deck Keller (Steve) of Flowery Branch, Georgia, Ed Deck III (Cynthia) of Alpharetta, Georgia and Steve Deck of Jacksonville, Florida; three grandsons, Jason Hamilton (Leigh Ann), Sam Deck and Ben Deck; one great grandson, Taylor Hamilton; a brother, Lloyd Deck (Rosa) of Oxford, Alabama and a sister, Sarah Stewart of Kansas City, Kansas and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Deck is preceded in death by his sister Dot Weaver of Talladega.
