Carl Carlson Obituary

Carl Calvin Carlson (Jack), age 82, died peacefully in his Talladega home on Monday, June 3, 2013. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nan Whatley Carlson. Mr. Carlson, a native of Brooklyn, New York, was a master wood craftsman and cabinet maker, and spent the last 60 years designing, building and remodeling cabinetry and woodworking in the area's finest homes and historical buildings. He served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. He will be missed dearly by family and friends. He is survived by his sons, Jack Carlson and Terry Carlson (Shirley) of Talladega and his daughter, Cindy deSa (Hilaire) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Brandy Gaither (Jason) and Sara Smotherman (Michael) of Talladega, Terri Carlson (Matt Caylor) of Clay, AL, Calvin Carlson (Kayla) of Kingston, PA, Nathan deSa and Daniel deSa, of Atlanta, GA; and seven great-grandchildren, Micaela and Carly Bright, Chloe and Sydney Smotherman, and Harrison, Elizabeth and Elise Carlson. A private memorial will be held in Holly Pond, Alabama later this month.
