Obituary of Lena Mae Hayes

Lena Carpenter Hayes, 90, of Talladega passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was known as “MIMI” to her family. Graveside service will be Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Hepzibah Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-1:00 PM. Rev. Trull Hill will officiate and Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega will direct. Lena was a long time member of Hepzibah Baptist Church. Mrs. Hayes is preceded in death by her husband, Crad L. Hayes, daughter Maureen Gallops and son Ronald Smith. Her survivors include, her son, Thomas D. Smith and wife Teenie of Talladega, grandchildren: Kim Anthony of Birmingham, Scott Gallops (Kim) of Mobile, Lori Busby (Michael) of Pell City, Kellie Ladner (Kenny) of Huntsville, Kristi Canty (Mark) of Orlando FL, Todd Smith (Anna) of Birmingham, Jill Moore (Scott) of Shreveport, LA and Samuel Smith of Pensacola, FL, along with 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, a former daughter-in-law, Barbara Smith of Pell City and sister, Evelyn Beverly of Talladega. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to each care-giver.
