Obituary of Emily Juanita Sims

Graveside service for Emily Juanita Beverly Sims, 92, of Talladega, will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11 AM at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Steven Parker will officiate. Her family will receive friends Saturday from 10-10:30 AM at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Mrs. Sims passed away January 1, 2013 at Talladega Health Care. Emily Juanita Pogue was born in Clay County AL November 29, 1920 to James Walter and Susan Lemma (Owen) Pogue. Their family moved to Talladega in 1931. In December 1937, she married Ford Beverly and he died in October 1962. In June 1972, she married Millard Sims. Millard passed away in January 2005. Mrs. Sims was employed by Alabama Industries for the blind for 18 years retired in 1982. She and Millard were active members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, 2 brothers, 6 sisters, and grandson, Bobby Beverly. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Swanson (Charles) of Davenport IA, son, Jesse Ray Beverly (Sara) of Sylacauga, grandsons, Joseph Cabana (Shellie) and David Cabana (Cheri) of Davenport IA, and Mike Beverly of Talladega, 4 great-grandchildren, Carissa Mayfield, Haley Brit, Elizabeth Cabana and Rachel Stephenson (Chad) and 9 great- great- grandchildren all of Davenport, IA. Pallbearers will be Harold Godwin, Jamie Aderholt, Gerald Beverly, and grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New Shocco Rd Talladega, AL 35160.
