Before moving to Talladega, Mr. Brewer worked at the Braswell Furniture Store in Bessemer, AL. He moved his family to Talladega in 1956 to become manager of the Braswell-Bates Furniture Store. In 1969 he became owner and remained opened until 2008, a span of 52 years. To all the loyal customers in Talladega and surrounding areas we, Mr. Brewer's family, would like to say "Thank You" for your patronage over the span of the 52 years he was in business.
Mr. Brewer served in the United States Army from 1944-1946. Mr. Brewer was an active member of the Civitan Club for many years, serving as a president part of that time. He was a member of Central Baptist Church for over 40 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast following his son, grandsons, and friends children through many sporting activities for many years.
He had a wicked sense of humor and enjoyed playing pranks on many of his friends and "all" of his family. He enjoyed playing Rook and Aggravation with family and friends. He was a force to be reckoned with-a great competitor. Most of the children in Central Baptist Church knew Mr. Brewer as the "candy man". He always had a pocketful of candy, even for the more "mature" children. His passing will leave a void in the many lives he touched especially his family and friends. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this time in our lives.
