Graveside service for Julian “MULE” Towery, 79, of Alpine, will be Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Laniers Cemetery at Grassmere. Rev. Joel Maxwell will officiate and Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega will direct. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Towery passed away September 23, 2012 at his home. “Mule” was a native and lifelong resident of Grassmere, AL. He loved Alabama football, Auto Racing, and his Volunteer work at Childersburg Baseball and Football facilities. He is survived by his sisters: Betty Mable Crews of Alpine and Georgia Layne of Rome, GA along with several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mark Crews, John Hendricks, James Hendricks, Gabe Hammonds, Virgil Elbert Davison and Larry Crews. Honorary pallbearers will be Childersburg Baseball and Athletics Association and Little League.
